Zillow.com Raises $30 Million

The Wall Street Journal reports that Zillow.com the real-estate Web site, announced that it has raised an additional $30 Million. Rich Barton who is Zillow’s Chief Executive says the company is trying a a localized advertising program where plumbers and real-estate agents use their program to target ads to people searching within a specific zip code.

I think the idea is great. So many places aren’t doing Real Estate right. Real Estate is so much more than listings and Zillow understands this. Here is an example of a listing here in Knoxville. Zillow not only provides you with typical home information such as br, ba etc.. but they give you recent sales and tax information, value ranges, and allows you to see neighborhood and school information. These are great features for anyone looking to relocate.

In terms of SEM, with this new money perhaps they’ll be able to work on some SEO. Here’s an example of ajax and flash at its finest. It’s kinda funny when Vanessa Fox with Zillow (formerly Google) talked as SES San Jose about the use of Flash and Ajax (javascript) and how we all understand its affects of natural search results.
